Lisa and I followed our normal morning routine until we departed in different directions. She to camp, and I to Northport. I left first at 9:30 am. It was now time to continue the last leg of my journey. I made my way up to Rt. 1 south. First stop is to be the wonderful food co-op in Belfast. There was a strong head wind the entire ride, slowling me down quite a bit. I stopped for about an hour for lunch and snacks to bring with me to Northport. I arrived in Northport at 2:00. It was a comfortable, simple room with a very friendly and helpful owner. After I was settled in, I chose to explore the shore road a bit. I was told it was a 5 mile loop, strung with very nice "cottages". There was just enough time before dinner, so I set out, even though it had just started to sprinkle. It appeared there was enough blue sky to not be threatening. The ride was beautiful and surprisingly very hilly. It also turned out to be very WET! I was caught in a downpour for 3/4 of the ride. I thought, since this was the only wet ride my entire trip, I was going to tough it out. After I returned, I cleaned the chain and frame of sand and grit. I took a warm shower and settled in to watch a bit of TV and do a bit of painting. I hadn't watched the tube for more two weeks, not that I had missed it. I picked up the remote and pushed some buttons. I somehow screwed up the connection and had to ask for assistance. The owner, Kate, attempted to unscramble what I had done, but needed further assistance from the technical crew from direct TV. She worked on it for an hour and a half, until finally discovered it was the remote, and that a new remote solved the problem. I was finally able to relax while watching a movie and the food channel. I did two paintings to send off to friends in the morning.
