High fog viewed from Loop Road
Me on the decent of Cadillac Mountain
One of many shots on the descent.Today was a present brought about by yesterdays surprise of the uninhabitable "cottage". Lisa and I planned a day of driving back to acadia to tour the park and Bar Harbor. I was desperate to take a bike ride since it has been at least five days. The car tours have been necessary (and wonderful) because of the rain, but I needed to experience acadia with the wind on my face, smells of the sea and trees, and the physical exertion my body was craving. We parked the truck just past Thunder Hole. Lisa planned to sit on the huge granite rocks by the ocean to read, write and think, while I satisfied my urge for a ride. I did the Park Loop road and climbed Cadillac Mountain. Since I drove up it yesterday, I knew what I was in for. The conditions were not as good today, but I still wanted to accomplish it. It turned out to be only 3.5 miles to the top and really not that hard. It was very enjoyable because of the amazing views. The fog started to thicken about one mile from the top, but not blinding. I stopped a few times on the way down and had my picture taken with my bike. I finished the 25 mile ride and met Lisa on the rock for lunch our brown bag lunch. We then drove to Jordan Pond House and for the classic, pop-overs and tea. Delicious!! We poked around the Bar Harbor shops for an hour or so, then returned home. We saw some really nice watercolors and were inspired to experiment together with the imagery and techniques.
