Friday September 19th: Painting and walking Winthrop

Painting of two pet goats grazing from upper deck
Watercolor sketch of seagulls on abandoned dock

Painting of Lakeview from upper deck

I woke early and immediately set up to paint. I was hoping for fog to be lifting off the lake, but it was mostly clear. The sky was a pinkish and clear and the sun was beginning to hit the foliage. I painted the landscape. As I finished the painting, I looked to the right and saw their two goats grazing below. A great subject!! They were both slowly moving in and out of the shadows. I painted them with great amusement. Actually, my host want to sell the goats because they eat all the apples. Everyone has left for the day. I had a very full breakfast, then set out on foot, down the mountain and into town. It is only a mile and a half, but everything is there. I found the library to update the blog, walked around the lake front, sketched and took more pics. It is sunny, but cool. There is a big football game tonight and are all going. I hope to do a sunset painting though, before we leave.

Finally succeeding where technology got me stuck three days ago when trying to post a note!
I'm enjoying the art and the travel tales though I'm sure you're enjoying it more.... Swan's Island accomodations we talked about are not in fact available when you'd be there, so sorry on that front. Best wishes for good weather and a good time- Happy trails! Eileen
