Journal notes: Today was another beautiful day – bright sunshine and cool temps! We anticipated an easier, shorter biking day, so we took our time. Packed up and went back into Brattleboro to shop at a 3 floor EMS type store. Spent almost 2 hours of browsing. I picked up safety whistles for us and a very light camping stool for painting. We proceeded along and took a detour onto Rt. 9A in Stafford. Stopped and painted at a beautiful lake with sailboats. It was already 1:30 and had only ridden 20 miles. Today it is all about enjoying the surroundings. Rt. 124 was the longest, but very beautiful road we’ve been on in a long time. It had a few challenging, long climbs, but the views were well worth it. We rolled into Jaffrey @ 5:30 and still had 17 miles to go. Called our van support to guide us back incase darkness settled in before arriving in Ashby. We made it, but not many dinner options were available. Camp was again set up and dinner was multiple sandwiches of homegrown tomatoes, cheese and pickled peppers. They were inhaled along with pretzels and some beverages. We had our dinner in the Rec Hall. This place was quite a “unique” place to say the least. The large, rustic room was full of antiques hanging on the walls, each with a story so proudly expressed by the owner.
