September 9, 2008 Ashby, Ma to Greenland, NH

After an early start, we started on the third leg of this trip. I will be staying with my cousin in Greenland. We got calls from her as well as friends from home, relaying the message of a storm, currently tracking through NY and on the way towards us. We were told there was about an hour before we were going to get wet. We wanted to ride as much as possible, but were comforted to know the van would get us to Greenland dry. We rode fast to Nashua as the sprinkles began. Fortunately, there was a huge bike shop as we entered town. We spent at least an hour browsing and purchasing well needed equipment, then packed the van with bikes forward to Greenland. While we were consuming a delectable lunch in town, alerts sounded on the radio about the arriving storm. Suddenly, the sky darkened and the downpour began. We were so thankful to be inside. It took about 45 minutes to arrive in Greenland safe, sound and most of all dry. I sadly said good bye to my friends and got comfortable in my first "home" layover.
