Fog lifting at 6:30 amI was greeted with an amazing scene this morning. The fog was a result of an overnight frost, highlighted with pastels of orange, yellow and violet from the rising sun. I painted for an hour and a half. By that time my hands were chilled enough to determine that I was finished. As I emerged from the studio, I was welcomed to a hearty blueberry pancake breakfast made from scratch and authentic maine blueberries. Life is good! I will be joining the family in the days events. First, we will drive to Unity College where their eldest son is participating in a cross country meet. After that we will go to the infamous Commongrounds Fair. It is a three day event celebrating Maines organic farms, traditional arts and crafts, alternative energies and political activists. The weather was sunny and warm for the entire day. The son had a terrific run and the team won. We had a great time running from point to point on the trail to watch him go by. The fair turned was an amazing event with an overwhelming amount of information and "food" for thought. We did not see all of it in the five hours that we were there. I was very interested and amazed by the sheep herding demonstration, especially after reading a book by John Katz. We were all exhausted upon returning around 7 pm. This family has opened their home and their hearts to me. I will truly miss them.
